Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou insists that 'outstanding talent' Mikey Johnston still has a bright future in the game.

The 23-year-old wide man looks certain to leave the Hoops for a loan spell before the summer transfer window ends.

The Aussie wants Johnston to go away and sample a diet of regular first-team football elsewhere in a bid to get his Celtic career back on track.

Johnston featured in the preseason tour of Austria but has not played a minute of the three Premiership games so far this season.

The potential arrival of left winger Sead Haksabanovic from Rubin Kazan would push Johnston further down the Parkhead pecking order and Postecoglou believes a loan deal would be beneficial for both parties.

Postecoglou said: "There are still 10 days or so left in the transfer window, particularly around Mikey. I am really keen to get him some game time. I still think Mikey is an outstanding talent he just has not been able to get a good run of games. If we can get him an environment where he can do that, then he can start realising the potential we all know he has. Everyone is training well and part of the training group. If opportunities arise over the next 10 days then we will definitely look at them."
