Celtic are interested in North Macedonian midfielder Jani Atansov, according to a report from Croatian news outlet Germanijak.

The Hajduk Split star isn't a regular starter, playing only 27 games last term although he has featured more this term, with a goal in last week's derby with Dinamo Zagreb.

Journalist Izak Ante Sucic reports that Atansov would be available should the two clubs be able to agree a fee. The same journalist previously broke the news of Josip Juranovic's move from Legia Warsaw.

A powerful, 6ft 1" defensive midfielder, the 22-year-old moved to Hajduk from Turkish side Bursaspor.

He has one cap for his country but is regarded as one who will have a big impact in the future.

Celtic let Ismaila Soro go on loan to Arouca and have been subsequently linked with several defensive midfielders so far this window as they look to beef up their squad to battle on multiple fronts.
