Christopher Jullien has officially left Celtic after joining Montpellier on a reported three-year deal.

The central defender has struggled for game time ever since injuring his knee in late 2020.

He has only made one competitive appearance under Ange Postecoglou, which came against Raith Rovers in February.

And Celtic have now confirmed Jullien has sealed a return move to France on permanent terms.

A club statement read: "Christopher Jullien has joined @MontpellierHSC on a permanent deal. Everyone at #CelticFC would like to thank @Chri6ViF for his contribution to the club and wish him good luck for the future

"During his time at the club, the Frenchman won five trophies, including a treble in his first season."

The Hoops spent £7 million on the 29-year-old in 2019 and will recoup £1 million, as reported by French outlet L' Equipe.

Jullien had many memorable moments during his time at the Bhoys, including scoring a late winner against Lazio and also providing the only goal of the game during the League Cup final victory over Rangers.
