Dumbarton forward Ally Love, who crocked Rangers midfielder Alex Lowry during a B-team match with a crunching late tackle, will not receive a retrospective SFA ban, according to a report.

The Dumbarton winger put in the rash challenge as the Lowland League side beat the Sons 7-0. It resulted in the youngster being stretched off the field with Rangers B boss David McCallum quoted as being "angry and frustrated" at the flashpoint.

The Daily Record report that SFA compliance officer Andrew Phillips will not get involved in overturning the referee's decision to give a yellow card on the night.

McCallum said: "I've just watched one of our brightest talents get a tackle that I thought was wrong.

"I thought that with the timing of the game, the game was gone, there's no need for that to happen.

"We've now got someone sitting in that dressing room in Alex Lowry who has got a real sore one.

"I want to talk to the players about the performance, because it was a really strong performance, but right now, my emotions are more concerned about Alex.

"My concerns are there for a tackle that I've watched back and is nothing short of wrong and it was wrong at this time of the game for sure."

31-year-old Love has since apologised publicly to the Gers midfielder, as he detailed the abuse he has personally taken after the incident.

“I want to put out there after death threats and people online asking me to die over this tackle - I hope Alex is ok," he commented.

"By no means would I want to deliberately injure anyone."

The Ibrox side are still waiting to find out the extent of Lowry's injury and he is believed to have had a scan today.
