ROSS BARKLEY has reportedly been offered to Rangers

The Englishman is a free agent following his departure from Chelsea by mutual consent.

The 28-year-old spent four-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge.

However, the former Everton star failed to really make his mark in London and is now looking for his next move.

Both Rangers and Celtic had been touted with a move for Barkley earlier in the summer window.

However, now, Football Scotland say that Barkley has been floated to Rangers' recruitment team.

They report Barkley's name has "come up in discussions after his agent floated his name to the Gers recruitment team about a possible link-up."

It remains to be seen whether Rangers would be interested in striking a deal.

David Moyes handed Barkley his debut at Goodison and has been linked with a move for the midfielder at West Ham.

He said: “I would never rule anybody out but I’ve got to say on Ross, I gave him his debut at 16 and he’s had a really good career.

“He’s played for England and played for big clubs. If it is not us, I wish him well wherever he does go."
