RANGERS legend Ally McCoist has revealed his plan to fire back at Celtic pundit Trevor Sinclair over his Champions League jibe.

The talkSPORT pundit had taunted Rangers fans after the Champions League first-leg qualifying loss to Union Saint-Gilloise.

Sinclair had commented: "To be fair, the Champions League isn't for everyone.

"Celtic obviously won that tournament [in 1967, when it was the European Cup] and Rangers are happy in the Europa League, so they'll probably be happy to go out."

However, Rangers progressed with a second-leg comeback before dumping PSV Eindhoven out to reach the Champions League group stage.

Now, McCoist is desperate to have his say back to Sinclair with Rangers competing in Europe's elite competition alongside Celtic.

Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist said: "What time is he on tomorrow, wee Trevor?

"Oh, I am having a bit of him tomorrow, I remember him that night, he kept saying to me 'the Champions League is not for everybody, oh the Champions League is not for everybody, Ally'.

"Well I have got news for you, it's Champions League for us!"

Both Glasgow clubs have landed exciting ties in the group stage. Rangers were paired up with Napoli, Liverpool and Ajax in the groups. And Celtic drew Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk.

And McCoist went on to reveal he had to ditch his phone after the draw after being bombarded with messages.

He added: "I swear to God, Al, within five minutes of the draw there was smoke coming out my phone man.

"I put it down on the mantelpiece and there was smoke billowing out of it.

"It's crazy, that's what I was saying, both of them in the Champions League for the restaurants, shops, everyone in Glasgow, it is fantastic.

"You've got the game on Saturday, then Real Madrid and Ajax, Liverpool games, Napoli, it is unbelievable, a long time coming."
