ANDY HALLIDAY reckons Rangers still suffer with the same problem positions as two years ago.

The former Ibrox midfielder has claimed the club still haven't corrected issues in goal and at right-wing.

Halliday insists countless transfer windows have passed without the club signing a star player on the flank.

And he also questioned the goalkeeping position with Giovanni van Bronckhorst handing Jon McLaughlin the No1 spot after Allan McGregor signed a new deal in the summer.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Halliday explained: "But I do look at Rangers' team and they're still lacking in the same problematic positions that we've been saying for the last two years.

"Even going into the summer, the goalkeeper and right wing positions.

"I've lost count of how many transfer windows Rangers have been trying to replace that right wing position.

"A creative goalscoring midfielder, I still don't think they've got. A second centre half."

But the ex-Rangers player absolved Van Bronckhorst of blame for the defensive worries at the club as he insisted it's not the manager's fault for Connor Goldson's numerous centre-back partners.

John Souttar and Ben Davies joined the club in the summer to bolster the backline but have faced niggling injuries with James Sands deputising alongside Goldson.

Halliday added: "Connor Goldson's had four centre half partnerships, four. We're in the start of September. You can't blame the manager for that."
