RANGERS' Champions League clash with Napoli has been delayed by 24-hours.

The Ibrox club will now face the Serie A leaders on Wednesday, September 14 at 8pm.

The teams were due to meet a day earlier on Tuesday, September 13.

However, this has been rescheduled by UEFA following the limited police resources available in Scotland due to the ongoing events surrounding the national mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

No Napoli fans will be allowed inside the stadium for the match.

In turn, on sporting integrity grounds, no Gers fans will be allowed to attend the return game in Naples.

A statement from the governing body reads: "UEFA today announced that the UEFA Champions League tie between Rangers FC and SSC Napoli, originally to be played on Tuesday 13 September, has been rescheduled for Wednesday 14 September at 21.00CET.

"This is due to the severe limitations on police resources and organisational issues related to the ongoing events surrounding the national mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"In addition, it was agreed to also postpone the UEFA Youth League game between both teams from Tuesday 13 September to Wednesday 14 September at 15.00CET.

"Away fans will not be authorised at the games, and as a matter of sporting fairness, Rangers’ fans will not be authorised for the return legs in Naples.

"UEFA urges fans not to travel and to respect this extraordinary situation."

Rangers swiftly followed this up with their own statement after the confirmation.

It reads: "Rangers can today confirm the upcoming UEFA Champions League match with SSC Napoli at Ibrox has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 14 September at 8pm.

"This is due to the severe limitations on policing resources and organisational challenges related to the ongoing events surrounding the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"Rangers, of course, recognise this switch in date will inconvenience a number of our loyal supporters, and refunds will be available to those unable to attend the match.

"Additionally, no away supporters will be present at the match, allowing the club to make additional tickets available to MyGers members as a priority.

"UEFA have also confirmed that as a matter of sporting integrity, no Rangers fans will be permitted to attend the return fixture in Naples.

"The UEFA Youth League match with Napoli at Firhill has also been pushed back 24 hours and will be played at 2pm on Wednesday.

"The club can only apologise for any inconvenience caused by the most unique and sad circumstances which are beyond our control."
