ANGE POSTECOGLOU has admitted Celtic summer signing Oliver Abildgaard has still got work to do before he's thrust into action.

The Rubin Kazan midfielder joined Celtic on a season-long loan deal on deadline day.

But he's yet to feature for his new club having missed all of pre-season and been working on his fitness in solo sessions before arriving at Celtic.

Postecoglou has Abildgaard as part of his squad meaning the midfielder could feature against Shakhtar tonight - but the Celtic boss admitted it's unlikely he'll play, and certainly not from the start.

“We’ll see,” he said of Abildgaard featuring in the Champions League second matchday clash.

“Oli is working his way through his fitness so he’ll be in the squad but he’s still got a bit of work to do.

“It’s fair to say as he missed all of pre-season and has been training by himself.

"We’ve just got to be careful with him but he’s in the squad, so we’ll see.”

Postecoglou also confirmed Kyogo Furuhashi is fully fit for the match against Shakhtar Donetsk after a shoulder injury against Rangers.

It leaves just Carl Starfelt and James McCarthy on the treatment table, with the latter left in Glasgow after reporting feeling ill.
