ALFREDO MORELOS has been left out of the Colombia squad for friendlies against Guatemala and Mexico.

The Rangers striker has not been selected by Nestor Lorenzo as he named his 26-man squad.

Colombia first play Guatemala on Sunday, September 25 before taking on Mexico on Wednesday, September 28.

But Morelos will not be involved as he will remain with Rangers during the international break.

The striker has not been involved with the national team since suffering a nightmare thigh injury on duty with his country.

Morelos missed a large chunk of last season after undergoing surgery to correct the thigh issue he sustained while away with Colombia.

However, on a club level Morelos has staked his claim for the starting striker spot after impressing Giovanni van Bronckhorst with an improved attitude and increased fitness levels following being dropped from the squad against PSV Eindhoven.

Speaking ahead of Rangers' Champions League loss to Napoli - in which Morelos started - the manager explained: "Alfredo (Morelos) is in a good place mentally and physically, he is training really well and I have had a good conversation with him.

"He is in a far better place and makes it difficult for me to decide on my starting team."
