NATHAN PATTERSON will reportedly see a specialist after being stretchered off against Ukraine will on Scotland duty - but it's claimed his injury is not serious.

The full-back was forced to withdraw from the national team squad after the injury blow, but it's thought the knock is not as bad as first feared.

Patterson was taken off on a stretcher after just 26 minutes in the 3-0 win over Ukraine with serious concern for the Scotland and Everton talent.

But, now, the Scottish Daily Express claim the defender has received some positive news as he reportedly won't be sidelined for too long.

The outlet claim the Rangers graduate has not suffered a serious injury but will still head to see a specialist and undergo major checks at hospital as a precaution on Tuesday.

A source told the newspaper: "The injury is not as bad as first feared but he will see a specialist on Tuesday for confirmation."

The full-back has been in impressive form for club side Everton this season having played seven times under Frank Lampard in the Premier League this season.

Patterson has become a fan favourite at Goodison Park after breaking into the side after a move from Ibrox in January.
