GUS POYET has confirmed that striker Giorgos Giakoumakis is a major doubt for Celtic this weekend as they take on Motherwell.
The Greece frontman missed last night's 3-1 victory over Northern Ireland in the Nations League.
Assessing the injury, manager Poyet told Greece NT: “He had a small problem, and we couldn’t risk him.
"I don’t know how long. I think it’s not going to be long out, but if you ask me now, I don’t think he will play at the weekend in Scotland. So, he was not fit to play.”
Celtic are facing somewhat of an injury crisis heading into Saturday's game with a number of first-team stars out injured.
Cameron Carter-Vickers is also a worry and it is understood that he is a major doubt after picking up a knock during Celtic's defeat to St Mirren.
Daizen Madea and David Turnbull are also struggling after picking up knocks while away on international duty.
