SIMON JORDAN couldn't resist a pop at Scotland's success in the Nations League last night.
The former Crystal Palace owner appeared on talkSPORT this morning alongside Jim White and Danny Murphy as they discussed Tuesday night's football action.
Steve Clarke guided his team to a 0-0 draw against Ukraine in Poland during their final Nations League tie.
The result was enough to earn Scotland promotion to Section A of the tournament, as well as a play-off spot for Euro 2024 and pot 2 status for the next qualifying campaign.
To make it all the sweeter, England and Wales were relegated after the their final round of fixtures following their respective poor campaigns.
Both of Scotland's home nations' rivals will ply their trade in Section B in the next edition of the competition.
However, Jordan was keen to point out that Scotland had a chance earlier this year to qualify for something more meaningful - the World Cup - as he diminished the importance of the Nations League.
He said: "It's a bit like Liverpool winning the Papa John's Cup and celebrating it.
"The opportunity for Scotland was so immense against the same team to qualify for an opportunity to get to a World Cup. You don't take that one.
"Then you take in a tournament that is, on one hand said by a Scotsman himself, Graeme Souness, derided as a jumped up bunch of friendlies that has no meaning, players have difficulty getting up for it and has no substance to it.
"On the other hand, you have the narrative that it's a reset and it's the one that we should all be looking at."
