KEMAR ROOFE has hinted that he could be on the verge of a return to action for Rangers in the near future.

The striker, 29, has been out of action since the end of last season after picking up a calf injury.

The Jamaican last kicked a ball for the Light Blues in the Europa League final loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in May.

He has been working hard in the gym on his rehabilitation work.

However, he has been missing for Giovanni van Bornckhorst's side for the entirety of the 22/23 campaign so far.

The Dutch boss did provide an update on Roofe's fitness situation earlier in September. He stated: "We will have to see if he is one of the players who can come back really quick or if he maybe takes a longer time."

Now, it appears Roofe has a further, potentially positive update for Gers supporters.

On his Instagram story, he filmed himself walking into the kit room where he spoke to kit man Jim McAlister.

He asked: "Jim, are you printing up my shirt?"

Ex-Morton skipper McAlister turned around, showing-off the orange "Morelos 20" shirt to which Roofe replied: "No, that's the wrong shirt."

McAlister, pointing at a box, then said: "Yours is in there."

Roofe responds: "Now we're talking."

Rangers travel to Tynecastle this Saturday to face Hearts.
