IANIS HAGI'S Rangers injury comeback timeline has been "prolonged", Romania boss Edi Iordănescu has confirmed.
The national team boss revealed Hagi had warned his recovery progress has been extended a little in a conversation earlier this week.
Iordănescu is keen for Hagi to return to action as he insisted the midfielder would become an immediate option for a call-up when he's fit.
But the manager is in the dark over when that will be with fears Hagi won't be back for Rangers or his country until after the World Cup break.
Speaking to DigiSport Romania, Iordănescu said: "Three days ago I had a discussion with Ianis Hagi, his recovery process was prolonged a bit.
"He couldn't tell me anything concrete either.
"He is under the observation of the medical staff at the club.
"If he will return this year on the ground, then for us it can quickly become an option."
It comes after Hagi's father Gheorghe admitted: "I don't know whether Ianis will play this year or not.
"He is in his last period of rehabilitation, but that won't be a short period of time either. It takes time.
"He has returned to light training and he is beginning to get used to the effort and power required that you need on the pitch.
"We are all hoping he comes back as soon as possible.
"I'm not in Glasgow, so I don't know exactly how well he is doing. The Rangers doctors and medical staff...they will know his progress a lot better than me."
