SIMON FERRY reckons both Celtic and Rangers could 'give anyone a game' in the Premier League except high-flying Manchester City.

The current Open Goal Broomhill manager believes Glasgow's big two are more than capable of competing at the highest level.

Ferry reckons the only thing that is holding the Scottish duo back is their depth of squad compared to the elite teams in Europe.

Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, he said: "If Celtic and Rangers had fully fit squads, then they would definitely be able to compete against teams in the Premier League.

"Where the difference lies is when you look at the substitutes that Liverpool can bring on compared to Rangers.

"Celtic and Rangers don’t have the same quality in depth, but in a one-off game, they could give anyone a game bar Man City.

The 34-year-old also reckons the Parkhead club are favourites to retain the league title due to them having 'better' players than rivals Rangers.

"I still think the title race will be tight," he continued.

"Both teams are getting good results and playing well, however, I still think Celtic will win the league purely because they have a better squad than Rangers.

"I also think that Giovanni van Bronckhorst still doesn’t know his best style or team, whilst Celtic play the exact same way all the time and have the right players in to fit that style of play."
