EFE AMBROSE has signed a short-term deal with Morton.

The former Celtic centre-back has penned a contract with the Scottish Championship side until the end of the season.

Morton confirmed the signing of Ambrose this morning as he took the number 12 shirt at Cappielow.

It's Ambrose's sixth Scottish club after stints at Celtic, Hibs, Livingston, St Johnstone and Dunfermline.

He had been heavily linked with a move to Hamilton after training with the club but sealed a deal at Morton.

Ambrose played 168 times for Celtic between 2012 and 2016 as he won four top-flight titles, a Scottish Cup and a Scottish League Cup at the club.

A Morton club statement read: "Greenock Morton are delighted to announce the signing on Efe Ambrose on a deal until the end of the season.

"Efe joins the team as a highly experienced defender playing almost 200 games in the Scottish Premiership where he won the league with Celtic on 4 occasions and making just under 50 appearances for his national team where he was part of the Nigeria side that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013.

"Efe will wear the number 12 shirt with his kits now available to sponsor."
