SCOTTISH football clubs in Europe have now conceded an astonishing total of 70 goals this season in just 28 games in a calamitous campaign.

RangersCeltic and Hearts all lost on consecutive nights in another desperate week for Scottish football in Europe.

The Ibrox side made history by becoming the worst team in Champions League history while the Hoops were mauled in Madrid and Hearts lost 3-1 in Turkey to Basaksehir. And Berkay Ozcan's strike in the second half was the 70th goal conceded by a Scottish team this season in a campaign of abject embarrassment.

Scottish teams have won only four out of those 28 games in Europe this term. losing 19 and drawing two. The aggregate score is 70-17 against them.

Motherwell set the tone back in July with a 1-0 home defeat to Sligo Rovers in the Europa Conference League and followed that up with a 2-0 loss in Ireland.

Dundee United may have chalked up an impressive 1-0 home win against AZ Alkmaar, but they then collapsed to that infamous 7-0 joint-worst defeat by a Scottish side in Europe when they traveled to the Netherlands for the return leg of the Europa Conference League tie.

Rangers managed to lose 2-0 in Belgium in their opening Champions League qualifier before turning the tie around to win 3-0 at Ibrox against Union Saint-Gilloise.

After a thrilling 2-2 draw at Ibrox in the play-off round first leg, Rangers stunned PSV Eindhoven with a 1-0 win in the Netherlands in the Champions League to qualify, but they have lost all six games in the group stages and scored just twice, They managed to collapse to a disastrous 7-1 destruction from Liverpool too and they were also the club with the least shots in the group stages.

Celtic won two points, but conceded 15 goals, while scoring four goals.

Heart conceded 16 goals in the Europa Conference League group stages and bowed out this week with a 3-1 defeat in Istanbul to end a truly horrific season for Scottish clubs in Europe.
