Not one Rangers player would get into Celtic's current team.

That's the view of former Parkhead hero Frank McAvennie.

The ex-Scotland international says Rangers' players must work harder to get their fans back onside after the World Cup break.

Macca feels it's unfair for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to shoulder all of the blame for the Ibrox side's poor run of form, which ultimately saw them fall nine points behind Celtic in the title race.

He reckons their players have let down the club's fans.

Quoted in the Scottish Sun, McAvennie said: “I don’t think any of the Rangers players would get into the current Celtic team.

“I hate kicking people when they are down and they have been having a terrible time of it, but it’s their own fault.

“They’re not doing the basics. They’re not helping each other or working hard enough.

“Just because you’re having a bad game doesn’t mean you can’t put a shift in. You can still help your team.

“The ball might be bouncing off you and you might be missing sitters, but you can still make a contribution.

“I don’t see anyone in their side doing that.”
