ANGE POSTECOGLOU has already majorly endeared himself to the Celtic support with his Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports Cup double last season - and his attractive style of play.

But he's not a Celtic great yet - or anywhere close, according to pundit Pat Nevin.

The former Chelsea, Kilmarnock and Motherwell winger reckons Postecoglou can go on to write his name into the history books at Parkhead - but it'll take time.

Nevin hailed Postecoglou's impressive start to life in Glasgow, but warned he'll need to win as many as six consecutive titles to earn his place as a Celtic legend.

Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, Nevin detailed the lofty target: "Ange has done a really good job but we can't get carried away too early with the rankings.

"Ange needs to stay with Celtic four, five or maybe six years and win the league every year to be looked upon as one of the greats."

While Nevin has called for caution on branding Postecoglou a future Celtic legend, the pundit did offer a comparison to Celtic hero Tommy Burns.

For Nevin, Postecoglou could only be discussed as a Celtic great so early in his tenure because of his style of play with his relentless attitude and 'We never stop' mantra.

But on top of that, Nevin reckons Postecoglou has embraced the Celtic club ethos more than any manager since Burns.

"The one area which may make him a great already is his style," said Nevin.

"There's a core ethos within the club and Ange Postecoglou, more than any manager since Tommy Burns, is the epitome of that ethos and that's why Celtic fans love him.

"I haven't felt it so clearly for decades than I do see it under Ange Postecoglou."

It comes as Nevin urged Postecoglou to swerve any possible approach from English clubs unless it's at an elite level.

Insisting any possible move to Everton - with Frank Lampard under pressure - would be a risk unless he was given guarantees of two transfer windows, Nevin added: "One day Ange Postecoglou will get a chance at the top level in England because he brings something extra special and really unusual."
