RANGERS have reportedly arranged a behind-closed-doors friendly against Swansea.

It's claimed the Ibrox club will welcome Swansea to the Rangers training centre next month.

The Scottish Sun claim the English Championship side will head north for the match on December 3.

The friendly fixture will be used to warm up for the return of domestic action after the World Cup.

But fans will not be able to watch the match which will be played in private at the Auchenhowie training facility.

However, it could be the first match for the next Rangers manager with the search for a new boss underway following Giovanni van Bronckhorst being sacked.

The Dutchman was relieved of his duties on Monday with Ibrox chiefs quickly starting the look for his replacement.

And it could be that a new boss is in charge to see his new side for the match against Swansea - managed by former Rangers loan ace Russell Martin.

The match will be played one week before the public friendly between Rangers and Bayer Leverkusen on December 10.

The Ibrox side will take on the Bundesliga club at Ibrox as they ramp up preparations for league fixtures returning.

Xabi Alonso will lead his side to Glasgow for the friendly with it being just the fifth match between the clubs.

Leverkusen most recently played Rangers during the Europa League campaign in 2019/20.

A Rangers statement confirming the Leverkusen friendly read: "RANGERS can today announce a friendly with Bundesliga opposition Bayer 04 Leverkusen on December 10, 2022 at Ibrox Stadium.

"Xabi Alonso’s squad will provide a strong test for Rangers during the Winter Break ahead of league action returning the following week.

"The sides have only met each other four times with the most recent occasion being in the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League knockout stages."
