Seven Partick Thistle board members have resigned, the club has announced.

Included in the resignation notice was chairman Jacqui Low who had been under pressure from supporters to leave the club.

A statement from the club read: "With immediate effect, the club can confirm that seven directors of Partick Thistle FC have resigned.

"They are chairman Jacqui Low and fellow directors Andrew Byron, Alan Caldwell, Douglas Noble, John Penman, Michael Robertson and Alan Rough MBE – they have informed the PTFC Trust of their decision and the resignations have been accepted.

"There will be no further comment by the club today. The full focus of the club’s CEO, staff, management team and players is on our home fixture against Ayr United a week on Saturday."

A significant number of fans have been upset at the direction of club in recent times.

Some supporters have felt that the fan ownership model at Firhill has been diluted – a claim that Low strenuously denies.

Just last week in an exclusive sitdown with Herald and Times Sport the chair insisted she would continue in her position despite unrest amongst the Thistle support.

She said: “I’m sure I’ve thought that but people that know me also know that I don’t give up,” Low said.

“If I was asked to leave by the board or the majority shareholders, of course I would. This is not about clinging on for grim death.

“I did give the option to the board when the share transfer went through to consider my position, and they did. They came back and asked me to continue.

“It will be up to the majority shareholders too – when they get to see how everything works and what’s going on, they may want to make a decision or reconsider that. That would be their right.

“But I would ask people to look back at the club’s performance – how we got through Covid and everything else that has happened over the previous few years when the board and I were in positions of leadership.

“I don’t think we let the club down. I don’t think we could have done that any better and I was really proud of being part of that team. When my time is up, my time will be up.”
