Ryan Kent must be a much-improved player in the second half of the season for Rangers should he want to land a move to the Premier League.

That’s according to former Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

The Englishman is out of contract at the end of the campaign after spending over four years with the club.

Contract talks are believed to have taken place, however, there has been no sign of progression with regards to a renewal to keep the winger at Ibrox.

The 26-year-old has been a pivotal player during his time with the club, contributing massively to their 55th title triumph and also last term’s run to the Europa League final.

Lennon is a big fan of Kent as a player, admitting he is good enough to ply his trade in the Premier league.

Although, speaking to Football Odds, the Northern Irishman insists Kent must show immediate signs of improvement this season if he’s to be picked up by a top flight side down south.

He said: "Ryan Kent is a very good player. He has not been productive over the last six months as he previously has been, but he is a player who is good enough for the Premier League. It will be interesting to see though if he would want to stay or go.

“Hagi is a talented player who will need to have bulked up as he is a little light for the Scottish league, so I’m hoping he will have come back from the break as an improved player.

“However, I will be amazed if Rangers decide to sell Ryan, and I’m not aware of a huge amount of interest for him. He will need to be better in the second half of the season before anyone takes him on.”

Alongside Kent, Gers striker Alfredo Morelos is another key player whose deal expires at the end of the current campaign.

It remains to be seen whether the club can convince either player to extend their stay, much like they did with Connor Goldson earlier this year.
