Ben Doak's emergence in the first team at Liverpool is a surprise to nobody in Scotland.

That's the view of former Rangers and Scotland star Kenny Miller.

The supremely talented 17-year-old made his Premier League debut last week against Aston Villa.

It came around two-months after his first appearance in a Reds shirt in the EFL Cup versus Derby.

The ex-Celtic kid has impressed greatly for the club's U23s side both domestically and in Europe too.

And Miller insists, in a similar fashion to when Billy Gilmour when to Chelsea, that Doak's rise should not be a surprise.

He told Grosvenor Sport: "I've not seen much of Doak so far, but I've heard about him for a few seasons now and he's been a name up in Scotland that's been on everyone's lips because of his attributes.

"He's gone to Liverpool and has really taken off which I think everyone expected him to do because he's a wonderful young talent.

"Similarly, I knew Billy Gilmour at Rangers. He had similar hype surrounding him and I knew his mentality and character. He was always willing to learn and was probably the hardest-working player as well. I always knew he'd succeed."

Meanwhile, Miller has revealed the current Celtic and Rangers players that he would've love to have played alongside.

Hoops star Jota is top of the ex-Scotland star's list, while Ryan Kent of Rangers is another one the former striker feels he could've thrived with.

The sides meet tomorrow lunchtime in what is sure to be another dramatic match in the history of the derby.

And in a slightly different preview to the game, Miller has picked out the players he would've appreciated playing with.
