Michael Stewart insists Celtic sealed the Premiership title this afternoon after their draw with Rangers.

Kyogo scored with just a few minutes remaining on the clock at Ibrox to secure a 2-2 draw for Ange Postecoglou's men.

After chasing the game for much of the second-half, which Rangers were undoubtedly in control of, the Japanese star popped up to ensure a share of the spoils in the powderkeg fixture.

More importantly, the result also ensured that Celtic maintained their nine point lead over their arch Glasgow rivals.

That all but secured the title for the Hoops in Stewart's opinion.

However, in the BBC Sportsound studio, Rory Loy had made the point that while Celtic were firm favourites to retain their crown, he insisted that the title race was not over yet.

And this was when Stewart made his feelings clear on air.

He said: “Did I hear someone earlier saying that the title race wasn’t over?”

Loy: “I said that it remained interesting. Obviously Celtic are massive favourites, Michael, but I’m still of the opinion that it’s not completely over at this moment in time.”

MS: “Ahh, it was Rory. Okay, no problem.”

Host Kenny MacIntyre came in: “You clearly disagree with that?”

MS: “Well, absolutely.”

He continued: “Just to go back to the point, the reason that it’s over Kenny is because they’ve played 20 games so far this season and Celtic have dropped five points. They’re not going to drop nine points. That would also mean that Rangers would need to win every single point available to even get into the hunt.

“It’s not going to happen. That goal by Kyogo at the end is what has basically won Celtic the title in my opinion.”

Rory: “No, listen, I hear what you’re saying. This time last year Rangers were ahead and absolutely collapsed.

“I appreciate the fact that Celtic are very steady. Postecoglou and the squad are very settled.

“Of course, Celtic are strong favourites. With the goal swing as well, it’s ten points.”

Derek Ferguson chipped in: “Michael’s got his view. There is still a lot of football to be played. Celtic, in the form they’ve been in this season, of course they’re strong favourites, but this game of football – it never fails to surprise you, so it’s not over until the fat lady sings as they say.”

MS: “Well, I’m sure I heard a fat lady singing when Kyogo put the ball in the net.”
