Queen’s Park’s Owen Coyle and Grant Savoury have been named the Scottish Championship Manager and Player of the Month for December 2022, respectively.

The Spiders sit top of the league, with Coyle’s side currently on a six-game winning streak.

Victories over the likes of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Hamilton Academical and Partick Thistle have put the team in a title-winning position, sitting four points above their nearest challengers Ayr United.

It is the former St Johnstone, Burnley and Houston Dynamo manager’s first Glen’s Manager of the Month award since he returned to Scotland to take over at Lesser Hampden in March last year after a successful spell in India with Jamshedpur FC.

Coyle said: “I am delighted to be chosen as the Glen’s Manager of the Month; however, it is an award that belongs to everyone at Queen’s Park. Both on and off the park we pulled in the one direction during 2022.

“My name might be on the manager’s award, however if it was not for the work put in by the coaching staff that directly support me, the players and the people that work so hard for the club in a whole host of other roles then it would have not been won.”

Savoury has also been rewarded for spearheading his team’s surge to the top of the league by being named cinch SPFL Championship Player of the Month.

The former Celtic youth player hit four goals in the month as his team moved into pole position in the Championship and reached the last eight of the SPFL Trust Trophy.

Ahead of Wednesday's quarter-final clash with Raith Rovers, the midfielder is hoping the goals keep on coming.

"A year ago I was making my way back into the game at Peterhead after a period out due to injury," he said.

"To secure full-time football in the summer and then to be recognised with this award just a few months later is terrific.

“I enjoy playing in such an attack-minded team, but I know that I have to contribute more than goals to keep progressing."
