A move to Newcastle for Celtic star Josip Juranovic would suit the right-back.

However, it may not be the best fit as things stand for the Croatian.

That's the view of ex-Hoops kid Si Ferry.

The Open Goal Broomhill manager insists the 27-year-old would suit playing in an Eddie Howe team.

That's because the Magpies gaffer likes to play attacking football, in a similar fashion to Ange Postecoglou.

That said, Ferry has warned that Kieran Trippier is Newcastle's best player - so Juranovic would struggle for regular game time.

So while he reckons Hoops fans would be more understand if the defender opted to join Newcastle, rather than Monza, the timing just isn't right for a switch.

He told Grosvenor Sport: "I went mental [on the podcast] when I saw that Juranovic was linked with Monza for £7 million. Scottish football fans could be biased because we live here, but you can't leave Celtic after a brilliant World Cup to go to Monza.

"In terms of Newcastle, playing in front of 50,000 people in the Premier League every week makes more sense to me. Celtic fans would be more understanding if he went to Newcastle.

"Eddie Howe is a similar type of coach to Ange Postecoglou. He wants to improve players, play a certain style of football - and attacking football - which would suit Juranovic.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Newcastle came in for him, but you do have to consider whether it would be a wise move. I've seen Newcastle play this season and Kieran Trippier is their best player by a mile, so does he want to go to Newcastle and sit and watch Kieran every week?

"Of course, Juranovic can triple his wages if he makes the move, but I can't see him moving Trippier out of the team. It'll be interesting to see where he goes."
