ROMANIAN wonderkid Alexi Pitu has broken his silence on speculation linking him with Rangers and admitted he would love to team up with countryman Ianis Hagi.

The Under 21s international winger plays for Romanian League leaders Farul Constanta - the club owned by Hagi's famous father Gheorghe.

It was reported this week Pitu was being monitored by Rangers, along with several clubs in the English Championship. He's been touted as the best prospect from his country since Ianis after scoring five goals and producing five assists in the league this season in 19 games. He's also the youngest player in Romanian history to play in European competition.

Pitu and Hagi spent a year together at Viitorul Constanta before Hagi eventually signed for Genk and then moved to Ibrox in 2020.

And Pitu was asked in his homeland whether his dream would be to play with Hagi again at Rangers.

He said: "Yes I would very much love to play with Ianis again, but first I want to win the title with Farul Constanta.

"I focus on football, I do my training and in the matches, I try to give my best.

"I understand the interest in playing with Ianis at Rangers and of course, it would be very nice.

"But I'm still a Farul player and I need to concentrate only on the important matches we have coming up this season."

Hagi senior took over Farul two years ago and integrated his Gheorghe Hagi Football Academy into the club and they are top of the table this season.
