Giorgos Giakoumakis' Celtic exit appears to be edging closer.

The Greek international is reportedly set to join Urawa Red Diamonds after weeks of speculation surrounding his future.

World-famous transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the 28-year-old's situation.

He claims that an agreement has been reached for the transfer between Celtic and the J-League outfit.

The package is claimed to be worth €4million and talks between the player and Urawa are underway.

However, while it seems Giakoumakis, who scored for the Hoops against Kilmarnock at the weekend, is off to Asia, Atlanta United are still pursuing a move.

He tweeted: "Urawa Red Diamonds have reached an agreement with Celtic for transfer of Giōrgos Giakoumakīs. Understand it’s €4m package.

"#transfers MLS side Atlanta still trying to sign the player — while personal terms are still under discussion with Urawa."

Meanwhile, Giorgos Giakoumakis took a massive risk and was fortunate to avoid giving away a penalty against Kilmarnock; that is the opinion of Dermot Gallagher.

The former Premier League official reckons the striker was "lucky" not to be penalised after bundling over Joe Wright in the Hampden penalty box.

The striker would go on to score Celtic's second goal of the afternoon to end the contest and send Ange Postecoglou's side into the final.

For Gallagher, the incident in the Celtic box should have resulted in a penalty to Kilmarnock.
