Michael Beale last night slammed Alfredo Morelos' first half performance against Kilmarnock stating "he couldn’t have been any worse" before his goal contribution.

The Ibrox boss was less than impressed with the striker's involvement in the first half with Kilmarnock leading through a Chris Stokes header.

But Morelos popped up with a crucial leveller after 23 minutes to even the score - even if he wasn't having his best game for the club.

Beale was, however, pleased with the Colombian in the second half as he doubled his goal tally as Rangers ran out 3-2 winners.

In an honest assessment on Morelos after the match, Beale said: "He couldn’t have been any worse than he was first half before he scored if I’m honest.

"I’m tough on Alfredo, we have a really honest relationship.

"He was much better second half than he was first half, he secured the ball a lot more.

"First half, he’s trying and he does some things that are spontaneous that come off but when they don’t sometimes he can leave the team open.

"He made a similar pass tonight to the one he made against Celtic. In those moments, that’s not what I want, it’s not what the team want.

"We want him up around the centre-halves, using his body to help the team come up the pitch. I thought he took both his goals really well tonight."
