Rangers have reportedly had a fresh bid for Morgan Whittaker rejected.

It's been claimed by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano that Swansea have turned down a new offer.

The Italian reports that Rangers had tabled a bid of around £1.5million for the 22-year-old.

However, having bought the striker for £400,000, it's said that the Welsh side are not accepting the Michael Beale's side's offer.

He tweeted: "Swansea have turned down a new bid from Rangers around 1.5m for talented winger Morgan Whittaker.

"#transfers Swansea bought him for 400k and are not accepting Rangers proposal, as of now."

Last night Beale insisted he had not been told that the Ibrox club had made a bid for the player.

Swans boss Russell Martin had claimed yesterday that Rangers had been rebuffed in their approach to make Whittaker their first signing of the January transfer window.

Beale was asked about Martin's comments after the win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday night and said: “Did he really? I didn’t know we had made a bid but I will talk about the player. They have recalled him for a reason.

"I would say that he was one of the better if not the best player in League One in the first half of the season and unless they have recalled him to play him, they must have recalled him to move him to a higher level.

"I think he is a good player but there is nothing more than that. And that is not what I have been told in-house.”
