Recently departed Celtic youngster Scott Robertson had already added 'quality and flair' to Fleetwood Town, according to Cods boss and Parkhead legend Scott Brown.

Robertson, 21, joined the English League One club on a two-and-a-half-year deal on Friday.

He had been at the Hoops since 2009 but could not break into the first team save for an outing against Cluj in the 2019-20 Europa League. The midfielder spent time on loan at Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers and Crewe Alexandra respectively.

Under Ange Postecoglou he was a fixture of Champions League matchday squads but did not garner any game-time before former Celtic captain Brown swooped to take him south on a permanent deal.

Despite losing his debut outing 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday, who are unbeaten in the league since October 4 and one of the main promotion contenders, Brown was still pleased with Robertson's debut and the performance of his team.

“For us, we managed to get Scotty [Robertson] and Phoenix [Patterson] on the park so that’s two of the new signings we’ve been able to bring on today," he told the Fleetwood Town website.

"They added a bit of quality and a bit of flair higher up the park and that’s what we’ve probably been missing.

"The lads’ performances’ were great again today but I’m sick and tired of coming in and saying we’ve played really well when we’ve got no points on the board.

“Now, we have to be that little bit nastier at the top end of the park, find that bit of quality as well, and be ruthless by taking our chances when we can because when you come to a big club like this, you aren’t going to get a lot of chances."
