Giorgos Giakoumakis will not leave Celtic tonight, according to a report.

The 28-year-old has been in talks with both Urawa Red Diamonds and Atlanta United for a number of weeks as he looks to seal his future away from Parkhead.

However, Football Scotland claim that the Greek international will not be heading from the champions prior to the deadline in Scotland.

It's said that the powerful striker is edging towards a move to the MLS with Atlanta.

However, this report states that negotiations are still ongoing and that the player still has a decision to make.

So, with the transfer window closing at midnight in Scotland, it seems Giakoumakis will still be a Celtic player.

However, that said, it's believed he will still leave in the coming days.

In the MLS, clubs have until May to do their business. J-League clubs have until the end of February to finalise their dealings.

The player is still mulling over his options as to where to move next. He has the opportunity to take more time to mull over his decision.

Meanwhile, Celtic midfielder Oliver Abildgaard has joined Hellas Verona on loan until the end of the season, as confirmed officially by the Serie A side.

The 26-year-old joined the Hoops in the summer on a one-year deal but failed to make an impact.

He made only nine appearances for the Scottish champions after arriving from Rubin Kazan.

When captain Callum McGregor got injured away to RB Leipzig in the Champions League, it looked like the Dane would be given the opportunity of some game-time.

However, it was Matt O'Riley who ended up providing cover for the number six position instead.

Abildgaard was the third player to join from the Russian side after the acquisitions of Carl Starfelt and Sead Haksabanovic.
