Alfredo Morelos celebrated in style as Rangers defeated Hearts 3-0 at Tynecastle this evening.

The Colombian striker netted two, while Malik Tillman also found the back of the net in a dominant display from Michael Beale's team.

It was by far the best performance of Beale's era so far and Morelos looked up for the occasion from the off.

He opened the scoring on the ninth minute before doubling his tally just after the hour mark following a lengthy VAR check.

After the goal was awarded Morelos made a beeline for the Hearts support as he performed a knee slide in celebration.

The Jambos were unbeaten in 10 matches and had high hopes of causing an upset but they were torn apart by the ruthless visitors, who also had three other goals ruled out for offside and a penalty award overturned following VAR reviews.

Rangers have now won 10 of their 11 matches since Beale took charge and are unbeaten in their last 13, although they remain nine points adrift of city rivals Celtic at the top of the cinch Premiership.

Reacting to the win, manager Beale said:

"It was a really strong performance, first half in particular. In the second half we had big chances to go and score more.

"Zander Clark made a couple of really big saves. Overall I'm delighted. They are riding high here and are on really good form. We spoke about that before the game.

"We had to be at our best. Defensively we were good. The amount of regains we had from pressing around the pitch was impressive. I look at the desire to steal the ball back and break from there. It started from the front and the rest of the team backed them up really well. It was nice to see Alfredo get the goals too."

"I thought Heart's approach made for a good game. It was one of those matches where the team that scored first might get the confidence to go on. We started the game ever so well and we were tactically good in the game. We are nowhere near where we want to be but tonight was a step in the right direction."
