Ally McCoist has told critics of Rangers star Alfredo Morelos to 'grow up'.

The former Ibrox manager insists there was no issue with the Colombian striker celebrating in front of the Hearts supporters on Wednesday night.

The Gers hitman bagged a brace at Tynecastle as Michael Beale's side ran out 3-0 winners in the capital.

Much has been made of Morelos' decision to celebrate in front of the Hearts fans on both occasions, showcasing his trademark knee slide.

Neil McCann in particular was not happy about the striker's actions.

However, McCoist has backed Morelos up, telling people there was nothing wrong with what he did.

Speaking on the Scottish Football Extra show on BT Sport, McCoist said: "Do me a favour, the man has been getting abused up and down the country by every set of home fans on the planet.

"So he sinks to his knees after scoring a goal. Do me a favour, grow up!"

While Sutton, when referring to his own predicament with Rangers, joked: "Is he not inciting the home support? What next? Should they ban Alf from Tynecastle Stadium? Should he get a stadium ban?

"I don't know you can't entice fan can you. He can't be a security risk can he?

He continued: "Tongue and cheek, I totally agree with Ally. I'm not a great fan of big Alf, I think he's chucked his toys out the pram once or twice at Rangers.

"More importantly he is actually turning in performances and playing for Michael Beale but give the guy a break. He scores a goal, he's taken dogs abuse he can celebrate."
