Todd Cantwell has released a statement insisting the truth over his Norwich exit for Rangers will be revealed.

In an Instagram story, Cantwell admitted his departure from his boyhood club "may have seemed strange" in reference to his words after signing for Rangers.

But Cantwell insists there are background factors behind his decision to leave Norwich and join Michael Beale at Ibrox.

The creative midfielder went on to stated that the "situation and was I was treated" will be revealed in the future.

The caption read: "Just a quick statement.

"The leaving of my boy hood club may have seemed strange to some in terms of my words.

"The situation and the way I was treated will be revealed and my fans and fans of the club will know the truth.

"I'm so happy again and enjoying my football at the amazing rangers".

After joining Rangers in the January window, Cantwell said of his move: "To be honest sometimes in football and life, you need a fresh start and scenery.

"Norwich was the club I came through at, I hold the club close to my heart and it was very difficult.

"But as a footballer you have a short career, I don’t want to look back with regrets.

"When I spoke to Ross and the manager It was pretty clear that this was the right move for me."

Asked if the move to Rangers is a reset in his career, Cantwell added: "Yeah, it is. I think I’ve got to take what I’ve done and take that experience with me.

"You’ve got to leave some of the scars behind because you can’t move forward if you don’t allow yourself to.

"For me, I’ve learnt a lot. I think I’ve got quite a good catalogue of experience really in terms of good and bad over the last couple of years and I think that’ll shape me into the player I wanted to be viewed at now and in the years to come."
