Rangers hero Ally McCoist has joked he would drive Ange Postecoglou to Leeds to get the Celtic boss the job.

The Hoops manager has been named as one of the frontrunners for the vacant position at Elland Road.

It's been reported today that the Australian is on the radar of the Leeds hierarchy after impressing during his 18-month spell with Celtic so far.

The Lily Whites are looking for a new gaffer after they dismissed Jesse Marsch yesterday.

The American was sacked after a dismal run of form which saw the club slip to 17th in the Premier League, sitting about the relegation zone only on goal difference.

And McCoist has admitted he's drive the Aussie down to Yorkshire to ensure a move away from Celtic.

The Gers legend was discussing the potential options for Leeds on talkSPORT's breakfast show this morning.

The pundit was highly complimentary of Postecoglou and the job he's carried out in Glasgow's east end.

But he would not hide the fact he'd be quite happy as a Rangers man to see the Celtic boss leave.

One caller, a Leeds fan, called up the radio station to state that he's drive to pick Neil Warnock up and take him to Elland Road.

That's when McCoist took his moment. Cheekily, he told talkSPORT: “He is very good. If Terry the truck driver is going to pick Neil up then I could head up to Glasgow and pick big Ange up.”

Postecoglou previously touched upon Premier League interest back in September.

He commented at the time: "It’s fair to say that speculation around my future has been with me since day one, you know, for different reasons.

"For me, I don’t worry about that stuff. It doesn’t really enter my brain space.

“I take on every job I have and every challenge to try and make the football club as successful as it can be and that’s always been my total focus. If I start thinking about the speculation that’s there now and me potentially moving on to I don’t know where then I would have been worried at the start when people were saying that I wouldn’t last too long.

“I keep saying to the players, just live in the moment. The present is the most important time because the past, you can’t change and the future, you can’t control.”
