Kyogo Furuhashi is reportedly hopeful of recovering from a shoulder injury in time to face Rangers at Hampden.

The striker was forced off with the knock just 14 minutes into the Scottish Cup win over St Mirren on Saturday evening.

Immediate fears arose over an injury layoff for the in-form striker with the Viaplay Cup final against Rangers just two weeks away.

However, The Scottish Sun report Kyogo is positive about a quickfire return with the injury having settled down.

It's claimed Kyogo was not involved in Celtic training on Monday and will undergo further tests ahead of a diagnosis of the problem in the next 24 hours.

The report claims Kyogo is "unlikely" to feature against Aberdeen this coming weekend but keen to return to the fold for the meeting against Rangers later this month.

Ange Postecgolou had previously confirmed the striker would be sent for scans on the injury as he admitted it was a similar issue to a knock suffered last year.

Kyogo had injured his shoulder in the match against Rangers in September but made a rapid recovery to make a cameo appearance against Real Madrid days later.

On the injury blow, Postecoglou said: “It is his shoulder. It is something he had I think last year. He picked up a similar one.

“We will just wait and see. He will get a scan, but he is a pretty quick healer.

“I know what he is like. He will probably want to train on Monday. We need to wait and see how the scan goes.

“There is obviously an issue there but we just need to see how it goes.

“Kyogo’s nature he will be pushing to make himself available for next week. We just have to be sensible, there is a lot of football to be played between now and then.

“We will be guided by the best information we have.”
