Ally McCoist and Neil Lennon appear to be pals again as the pair hilariously delivered their predictions for this weekend's Rangers vs Celtic showdown at Hampden Park.

The pair appeared on talkSPORT this morning as they previewed Sunday's League Cup final with host Alan Brazil.

McCoist and Lennon famously were involved in a touchline spat during a heated Celtic v Rangers clash at Celtic Park back in 2011, but they appeared to have put that behind them as they offered their thoughts ahead of the fixture.

Brazil firstly quizzed McCoist on when Rangers would be awarded "their early penalty" and the Ibrox hero responded in his classic McCoist fashion.

He said: "No, it's later. [James] Tavernier nets his penalty in the 74th minute."

Lennon then cheekily chipped in, saying: "I'd do a double, penalty for Rangers and a red card for Celtic!"

On the game itself, former Celtic boss Lennon revealed the intensity that both sets of players will be enduring at the moment.

He said: "It's really intense, even the build up. The best thing about it is when the game starts and you can kind of get lost in the game.

"Celtic will probably go in as favourites but you can't call it. For me it can go either way.

"I think the first goal in these games is always really important. Celtic are in great form, they've been perfect since the draw at Ibrox.

"It will be about which team adapts best to the atmosphere and the conditions. In terms of the league, they are nine clear with a huge goal difference.

"Psychologically if Celtic win it will totally deflate Rangers. But if Rangers win it will give them a bit lift until the end of the season.

"I think Celtic will win 2-1 or 3-1 - I think both teams will score.

"But they're playing so well, they can score from so many areas. I really like the mentality of this team and they are so fluid."

McCoist had the last laugh as he cheekily hailed Ange Postecoglou and Celtic.

He added: "I am looking at Celtic, they are different class in wide areas, solid defensively and they can score goals .... so 2-0 Rangers"
