Ally McCoist reckons he found himself in the 'worst position in Glasgow' after Rangers' Viaplay Cup final loss to Celtic.

The Ibrox hero was on commentary duty for the showpiece final at Hampden, but joined the pundits and Ange Postecoglou in the studio set-up after the match.

That meant a journey past celebrating Celtic supporters down the Hampden steps as he joined Gordon Strachan, Chris Sutton and Postecoglou.

But, seeing the funny side, McCoist admitted he had to take his medicine as he referenced "dog's abuse" from partying Celtic fans.

On talkSPORT, McCoist recalled: "Can you imagine my journey down from the commentary booth? I had to go through the Celtic fans, I got absolute dog's abuse.

"You wouldn't have seen it, but at the end of the game, I am positioned right between big Ange and Gordon and Sutton as well to make matters worse.

"There could not have been a worse position in Glasgow than I was at the end of that game, and I had to sit there and take it. You have to go down and take your medicine."

Host Alan Brazil had little sympathy for McCoist as he insisted Celtic are on for a treble after lifting the first trophy of the season.

He replied: "It was just one of those brilliant days. Don't get me wrong, Rangers got back into it. They had that wee chance when two of them miscontrolled it, but first half Celtic controlled it.

"Listen, there is still a lot to play for. It's probably a deserved win, but Rangers will be disappointed because they can play better than that. The Treble is still well and truly on."

However, not to be outdone, McCoist teased Brazil over his past remarks on Postecoglou from when he was first appointed as Celtic boss.

McCoist said: "And the fella that is going to try and take him there, I had a wee chat with him after the game." He then played the clip of Brazil commenting on Postecoglou.

Brazil had previously said: “Oh, he’d be a great manager. Where do they come up with these guys from?"

The former Scotland striker added: "It turns out I played against him. Against Melbourne."
