Daizen Maeda’s evening against Hearts was cut short when the Celtic attacker was forced off injured during the first half at Parkhead.

Robbie Neilson’s men travelled to the east end of Glasgow on league duty midweek before the two clubs renew hostilities in the Scottish Cup at Tynecastle this Saturday.

The visitors took a shock lead at Celtic Park when Josh Ginnelly headed in the opening goal early on, with the strike initially disallowed for offside before being overturned by VAR.

Their lead wouldn’t last long, though, as Maeda turned in Kyogo Furuhashi’s cross to restore parity. Again, the linesman’s flag was raised for offside before the video referee gave the goal the green light.

Maeda was then forced off around the half-hour mark after picking up a knock, with Portuguese winger Jota coming off the bench to replace the Japanese winger.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Greg Taylor missed Wednesday night’s fixture after the full-back picked up a knock in training. Alexandro Bernabei replaced the Scotland internationalist in the starting line-up, while Anthony Ralston came into the team at the expense of January arrival Alastair Johnston.

He told BBC Sportsound: "We had a short turnaround from Sunday. Greg pulled up a bit sore but should be OK for the weekend.

"I really think it's a game tonight where we'll really need some energy and tempo in our game and the guys coming in will provide that.

"They've worked really hard at training. Tony's been really patient after coming back from injury. Bernabei's the same."
