Rangers defender Ben Davies has stressed the importance of the Ibrox side retaining this season's Scottish Cup.

The Light Blues take on rivals Celtic in the competition's semi-finals on Sunday April 30 and the Englishman is determined to make it a memorable occasion.

Michael Beale's side were defeated 2-1 by the Parkhead club in last month's League Cup final but did knock Ange Postecoglou's men out of the Scottish Cup at the semi-final stage last season.

And Davies is looking forward to the fixture.

He said: "I enjoy the derby and love playing in that atmosphere. We want to keep the Scottish Cup here.

"It's an exciting semi-final draw. One to look forward to at Hampden.

"At the minute our focus is on Motherwell at the weekend. Our performance at Hibs was strong, and if we perform to our levels we can get the win

"It was important to get back to our strong league form, we have had some good performances and looking for another on Saturday.

The Englishman also opened up on the tough start he had to his Ibrox career.

Injuries halted the central defender's momentum when he first arrived at the club.

However, he seems to now be over the problems that plagued him.

"Once I got minutes and game time I knew I could settle into the team, it was frustrating the first few months after missing pre-season," he continued.

"It is good to be in playing and I feel comfortable. I'm at the stage now I feel I can show a bit more of what I can do."
