Celtic hero Mikael Lustig has revealed the players he rates highest in the current Hoops squad.

The Swede won eight league titles during his time in Glasgow and recently returned to Parkhead for the first time since leaving the club in 2019.

And now the 36-year-old has detailed which of the current crop of Bhoys players he rates the most in a Twitter Q+A.

He said: "Everyone knows how important Callum (McGregor) is so I'll not say him.  (Cameron) Carter-Vickers, Jota & Kyogo (Furuhashi) impress me."

Lustig also opened up on his retirement 'plans' and addressed England fans repurposing a song about him for Gareth Southgate at the 2018 World Cup.

He continued: "I love it. Everytime I hear it, I get goosebumps. The English fans took it with Southgate but I know I'm the original!

"As for the police, not yet but I've been unemployed now for 2 months so maybe I'll take it up!"

The ex-right-back is currently promoting a night with Scott Brown at the OVO Hydro on Thursday May 18.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Celtic FC Foundation. Tony Hamilton, chief executive of the Foundation said: “This is set to be an outstanding event, centred around two magnificent characters in our club’s history in Scott Brown and Mikael Lustig – and I’m excited to see more special guests announced as we approach May 18.

“We are exceptionally grateful to Shaun Ennis, Scott and Mikael for this phenomenal gesture of support to Celtic FC Foundation and it will make a substantial impact on our work as we continue to challenge poverty and promote inclusion, against a cost of living crisis backdrop.

"Thanks also to every supporter who joins us on the night for what is sure to be a fantastic occasion that will live long in the memory."
