It has been claimed that Gordon Strachan was sacked by the Scotland national team due to a disagreement over the Oriam.

The ex-Celtic boss lost his job with the national side in 2017.

His team failed to qualify for the World Cup play-offs after a draw in his final match with Slovenia.

While some felt it was time for a changing of the guard, there's no doubt that having gone undefeated for one year, it was a surprise to see Strachan leave.

Now, according to a report in the Daily Record, it's claimed his dismissal was related to an off-field matter.

They state that Strachan's opposition to using the national performance centre at the Oriam as the team's training base was the main factor behind the decision.

The report claims the Scottish FA promised to help make Oriam look like it was worth the £25million of tax payers' cash used on it, but that Strachan refused to cooperate.

It's said that Strachan's views on the matter irked the then-SFA chief executive Stewart Regan.

Strachan believed that basing the A-team in Edinburgh when playing home games in Glasgow was counter-productive.

It's claimed that Scottish Rugby are given preferential treatment at Oriam.

The report adds that Regan asked Strachan to reconsider after that Slovenia match but he refused and was axed.

This report comes after Steve Clarke opted to change Scotland's training base from the Oriam to Lesser Hampden.
