Celtic have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their upcoming Scottish Cup tie with Rangers.

Liel Abada returned to training this week for Ange Postecoglou's side.

The Scottish Sun reports that the 21-year-old carried out a light session yesterday with the rest of the Hoops first team squad at Lennoxtown.

The pacey winger, who has been heavily linked with transfers to both Ajax and Benfica recently, is unlikely to be risked against Motherwell on Saturday.

But, it is anticipated that he will step up his fitness push next week ahead of Sunday's semi-final derby clash with Rangers at Hampden.

Their report also claims that Jota could miss this week's match against 'Well at Parkhead.

He sat out last weekend's easy win at Rugby Park. James Forrest is already on the sidelines too.

Key midfielder Reo Hatate has also been out with a hamstring problem and it remains to be seen when he will be earmarked for a return to action.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is expected to undergo surgery to fix a long-standing injury before the end of the season.

However, the defender trained as normal this week and is available for Celtic’s upcoming games.

READ MORE: James McFadden opens up on multiple Celtic transfer close calls

Meanwhile, James McFadden has revealed the three times he came close to a Celtic move - and explained it was only his decision not to go once.

The Scotland legend explained that there was interest from the Parkhead club before he left Motherwell, while at Everton and when he was at Birmingham.

McFadden - speaking on Open Goal - said that when Celtic first showed transfer interest, when he was at Motherwell, there was no option to move due to the clubs failing to agree a fee.

And it was a similar story for McFadden when Celtic plotted to sign him from Everton but again a transfer offer was not agreed.

However, McFadden claims he did turn down a move to Celtic when he left Birmingham to rejoin Everton.

The former Scotland international explained that he rejected a move to Parkhead because of a "better opportunity" at Everton and that a move to Celtic at that point "didn't feel right".
