Micah Richards reckons it is only a "matter of time" before a Premier League club offers Ange Postecoglou a job as manager.

The Celtic boss was namechecked in a report outlining a number of possible candidates for the vacant Chelsea job.

Postecoglou - quoted as a "surprise outsider" - has earned plaudits for his work at Celtic with the club on course for a second successive league crown, having already claimed two League Cup wins.

Now, pundit Richards has revealed his expectation for a Premier League club to come in for Postecoglou with Leeds, Everton, and Leicester among previous roles with which Postecoglou has been touted.

The ex-Manchester City player has discussed Postecoglou with former team-mate Joe Hart who has thrived since his move to Parkhead.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Richards commented: “It was interesting to see Ange Postecoglou linked with the Chelsea job, I spoke to Joe Hart shortly after he joined Celtic in August 2021 and he raved about his new manager, particularly about his character and outlook on life.

“He plays brave football and Joe said nothing flusters him.

"It is only a matter of time before a club here takes a plunge on him.”

It's reported that Postecoglou is on the shortlist for the next Chelsea manager having impressed club chiefs with his work at Celtic in Scotland and Europe.

However, it's thought Mauricio Pochettino is currently the preferred candidate for the Chelsea job.

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is also reportedly an option with Feyenoord's Arne Slot another outsider for the position.

Chelsea have spoken to Luis Enrique and Ruben Amorim but the pair are not thought to be frontrunners for the job.
