Celtic defender Carl Starfelt was spotted by cameras at Excelsior Stadium last night - and there was a specific reason for his attendance.

According to Sky, the Swede was at the game to cheer on his partner, Celtic Women forward Jacynta Galabadaarachchi.

The coverage’s commentator Ian Crocker confirmed the long-time rumoured relationship between the two stars when the Australian forward went down injured.

The camera panned to Starfelt, with the commentator saying: "From the Celtic men's team, Carl Starfelt is watching tonight and there's a reason for that ... he's supporting his partner Jacynta."

Unfortunately for Jacynta and her entourage, the away side won 1-0 thanks to a second-half Kirsty Howat strike. This result leaves Celtic five points adrift of Glasgow City, and level with Rangers with four games to play.

Meanwhile, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has given a fresh injury update on the status of January signing Alistair Johnston.

The Canadian international, a consistent starter since his arrival from CF Montreal, suffered a leg injury after competing with Rangers defender Borna Barasic in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden last week.

Postecoglou said of the right-back: "He got a significant knock. We will see. There is still a chance he will be available before the end of the season but it will be a week-by-week thing and we will see how he goes."

The Australian also gave updates on timescales for other injured players, such as defenders Cameron Carter-Vickers and Stephen Welsh, as well as winger James Forrest.

He said: "Cameron will be out until the start of next season and James Forrest is probably a week away.

"The only other new one is Stephen Welsh who picked up a knock in training. Everyone else is good to go."
