CELTIC fans have gathered in Trongate for a trophy day party after their side won the Scottish Premiership title.

The Hoops clinched title earlier this month against Hearts and received the trophy this afternoon following their 5-0 win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park. 

Now thousands of jubilant fans have been pictured celebrating the club's second successive title win in the city.

Pictures from Trongate and Glasgow Cross show Hoops supporters have taken over the area with pyrotechnics and smoke bombs filling the air.

Due to the large number of people gathering, road users are being advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route.

We previously reported council bosses have warned football fans who gather in the city centre this weekend to "respect their surroundings". 

They confirmed extra measures have been put in place to deal with any necessary cleanup following the celebrations. 

Police Scotland also confirmed a "proportionate policing plan" is in place.
