Ange Postecoglou is set to return to Australia for a homecoming in his first match as Tottenham Hotspur boss.

The former Celtic manager completed a move to North London on Tuesday, signing a four-year deal with the Premier League side.

And his first match in charge will see Postecoglu return to Australia as part of a pre-season Asia-Pacific tour with Spurs.

The plans were already in place before Postecoglou's appointment.

However, the trip now takes on the extra meaning of acting as a homecoming for Postecoglou just months after he took Celtic to Australia.

The manager, 57, has returned Down Under for the Sydney Super Cup in November with Celtic taking on Everton and Sydney FC during the domestic break for the World Cup.

Celtic drew 0-0 with Everton after a 2-1 defeat to Sydney FC in the friendly tournament.

Now, Postecoglou will take Spurs to Perth on Tuesday, 18 July to take on London rivals West Ham in his first match in charge of his new club.

Matches against Leicester and Roma will follow in Bangkok and Singapore respectively.

A Tottenham Hotspur statement on the pre-season tour reads: "Following on from the previously announced London Derby with West Ham United at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Tuesday 18 July, the squad will make its first ever trip to Thailand for a meeting with Leicester City at the Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, on Sunday 23 July (kick-off 5pm local time).

"The Club's pre-season tour will then conclude with a visit to Singapore for the second time in four years for a clash with Italian giants AS Roma at the National Stadium on Wednesday 26 July (kick-off 7.30pm local time).

"The Club’s visits to both Bangkok and Singapore are supported by Global Principal Partner, AIA."
