Harry Kane expects to stay at Tottenham if he's not sold before their opening Premier League game, according to a report.

Sky Sports states that the Spurs captain will not anticipate leaving North London this summer if he's included in Ange Postecoglou's starting line-up away at Brentford on Sunday, August 13.

The England skipper, 30, is wanted by Bayern Munich. It's believed that the Bundesliga giants will improve their current £82million offer for the world-class frontman.

The striker has less than a year left on his Spurs deal, and all the indications at this stage point to him leaving on a free next summer.

It's believed he is open to speaking to Bayern over a possible switch to Germany, however, PSG may have other ideas, as the French champions also believed they're in the mix.

Sky Sports' chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol said: "I think he feels, out of respect for Tottenham, and also the new manager Ange Postecoglou, it would be unfair for him to leave once the season has started.

"It's almost a deadline of sorting out Kane's future by the first game of the season, otherwise he stays.

"As far as Spurs are concerned, there's only one deadline that matters and that is Transfer Deadline Day on September 1.

"If Bayern Munich want to sign Kane, they've got to offer what Spurs think he's worth, which is £100m. So far, their best offer has been about £81m.

"As far as Bayern Munich are concerned, all parties are confident that a deal will be done with a five-year contract and Kane will become the club's top earner."

Meanwhile, Cameron Carter-Vickers made his return to the pitch last night during Celtic's win over Athletic Bilbao.

But the American international faces a race to prove his fitness ahead of Saturday's Premiership opener against Ross County.

The defender came through his part of James Forrest's testimonial game with little problems.

It was a boost for Brendan Rodgers, as the 25-year-old stepped up his recovery following three months out with a knee injury.

Despite his appearance, there are no guarantees he will be ready to face County on Saturday come 12.30pm, though.
